A special note about combating homelessness ...
Over 318,000 people live at or below the poverty
line in the Atlanta Region. In such a limited financial situation
the loss of a job, an accident, a medical crisis, can all quickly
lead to the complete depletion of resources and ultimately
homelessness. At Travelers Aid of Metropolitan Atlanta, we are
dedicated to the prevention of homelessness in our community and
combating it whenever it arises. Our caseworkers create an
individualized action plan with each client that responds to
their specific situation and needs. Once the immediate crisis has
passed, a long-term plan is developed that can include employment
training, credit counseling, budget management seminars,
child-rearing classes, and a multitude of other opportunities
designed to lead the family out of their poverty-stricken
circumstances and break the cycle that leads to homelessness.

Breakfast with Santa Program
Photo 1
This is an annual event at the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta to
provide Holiday cheer
to children of low-income families living in homeless shelters and
emergency transitional housing
during the holidays (i.e., not registered for other existing charitable
outreach programs). It also
serves as a "family reunion" for families that have benefited from TAMA
services in the past.
State Farm has been a regular supporter of this effort.
