crisis intervention, resettlement, emergency food, transportation and lodging
to individuals in their greatest time of need.

Travelers Aid Helps When Crisis Strikes

Assisting travelers and low-income newcomers in Atlanta since 1900.

  • A car breaks down and the elderly driver doesn't have the
money to make it back to his hometown.

  • A family transferring to Atlanta has an accident on the way, losing
everything they own with nowhere to live.

  • A woman fleeing an abusive relationship has to hide in another city, but
needs shelter while getting herself and her family financially stable.

These are just a few of the emergencies that Travelers Aid of Metropolitan Atlanta
responds to each month. When families or individuals face homelessness,
Travelers Aid offers them help when they don't have anywhere else to turn.

In 1900, Travelers Aid began its work at the old Atlanta Railroad Depot - helping
travelers in  trouble with support and shelter. Today, the agency continues to help
travelers - and assists  thousands of people each year who are in imminent
    danger of becoming homeless.

Seeing the need to provide additional help to people beyond its traditional travel-related
assistance, Travelers Aid has introduced programs to help other people in trouble —
newcomer families on the verge of becoming homeless, spouses fleeing domestic
abuse and people trying to relocate back to their families.

As the agency begins its second century, it continues to help travelers in trouble — providing
travel assistance, temporary shelter, counseling, and monetary help — and helping other
individuals and families to overcome crises to lead stable, productive lives.

By supporting Travelers Aid of Metropolitan Atlanta, you can make a valuable
contribution  to the prevention of homelessness in the metro area.
